Victory Over the Short Short

Yes, my people, it is finished. The short short has been defeated, and I will sleep again. Ironically, I've been listening to "Who wants to live forever" while writing. It *is too* ironic. There's someone running late, and she dies. The lyrics fit, most of the time. Whenever they aren't talking about love, that is. Ah, Queen. What would I do without you?

I thought about naming the cat Queen, since she looked so regal those first few days, but I'm glad I didn't. Now she just looks like kid. No prim, no proper. Instead, she's doing the high jump and pouncing on flies.

Yes, Charlotte is my fly swatter. She has captured and eaten two flies, a spider, and a something I didn't get the chance to identify before it was reduced to a single leg. I couldn't tell what it was exactly from the leg, but my imagination tells me it was a scorpion. It was sort of clear like that, and too puffy to be any spider I've seen. But I don't know that scorpions come that small, and I think Charlotte might have suffered a great deal if she *had* encountered a scorpion. Oh well.

The cat has taken to sleeping under the bathroom sink. It's dark there, and enclosed on every side. It's warm, and near my room so she can zip in there the second the door is opened. I am considering putting down something soft, so she really has a room of her own, but I fear a leak under there might be a big problem if there's something under there in addition to the cat.

Okay, that's it, really. No, I mean it. I'm leaving now. I've got to get to bed.

End.
