Late Night Woes

Tonight will be a late night for me, especially as I've gotten into the habit of quitting at ten for some quality kitty playtime and then bed.

The reason: A short short. No, folks, that's not a typo. That's an assignment. I'm not clear on exactly what a short short is, unless it's just a really short story. The thing is supposed to be publishable, all the stuff a regular 7 pager has, but in under 750 words. So far, I've got things up to the climax, and I'm at 175. I think I have the short part down. Now for finishing and quality control. I have made it my goal to finish this thing tonight, which is why I'm in for a late night. So far, I have managed to keep my schoolwork in the living room, but I might have to move this project to the bedroom if the cat doesn't stop investigating the laptop. As it is, I save every other word it seems like. Cats are destructive little buggers. But they're cute while they do it, so no worries.

Today, I've graded more. The counters have been fixed, and I'm about fifteen papers from my quota now. I *was* finished, but I guess that wasn't really the case, so I'm glad they got it straightened out before Monday when it would be too late.

I've got a ton of Feminism readings to do, some school blogging that will have to wait until Saturday, and readings for pedagogy 1 and creative writing. On top of that, I have to start planning my hugely long papers, since I can't leave papers that large until the last minute.

Other than this, I am planning to take my plants to the office tomorrow (we'll see if that actually happens), since Charlotte is now keenly interested in their taste. My room doesn't offer enough light, so they're off to see the office. I hope no one minds up there, but it's awfully plain right now, and it needs more life.

Actually, our office now has post-it notes, tape, paper clips, a stapler, a hole punch, and lots of highlighters. We're slowly building up our supplies, and it shouldn't be long before we're a real office.

That's it for now, because the short short isn't being written.

End.
