Fridays are Nice
Charlotte was a perfect angel last night; no mewing or scratching at the door, and no rowdy play that knocked stuff over. She's a lap cat mostly, and only really plays for a few minutes every hour or so of wakefulness. And there isn't much of that. All she wants is to follow me around and be petted. I'm more than happy to oblige.
I went to campus around ten Friday, since they had a computer lab session they invited us to attend. There was pizza, which is why I went. I was joined in my motive by five others, and we clustered around the computers nearest the pizza, to take in the aroma. The lab itself wasn't bad. We have professor codes to the program, so we can explore all we want and then use it to help students. And they fed us lunch, so the morning was both productive and cheap.
Then my office mates and I went up to the office to wait on a copy job that was supposed to be completed that day. It was, but not for a long, long time. In the mean time, I walked across campus to buy a grandparent's day gift or two. There is now a hat waiting to be sent, and a calendar that has nothing to do with this school (they were out of those), but is really pretty. I couldn't find anything else that wasn't dust-collecting or cluttering. Shrug.
Signed some papers over in the Student Business Services, and now I can use the gym after classes, or whenever I feel like it. The copy job was done then, so I picked it up, and came home, after dropping my walking buddy off at the English building.
Then two of my friends came over and we had dinner while watching Shrek. Chili with cheese, a batch of cornbread, some fried okra, and a bag of chopped mango. It was very tasty, and we had a blast. After we were finished, we hopped in the car and headed back to campus for the free movie night, featuring Shrek II. One of the friends hadn't seen the first one, so we had to show it to her before going, but I suspect we'd have watched it anyway.
There was a guy there who just wouldn't leave us alone. We asked for directions, which apparently meant that we liked him or something, as he not only gave us instructions, but also sat in the seat directly to my left. With theater seating, it is customary to leave an empty seat between yourself and a total stranger, unless things are very crowded and there's no way to do this. He might have thought we were no longer strangers, or that he was welcome, or something. I don't know. What I do know is that he made me slightly uncomfortable the whole time. Not the "ugh, get away" uncomfortable, but the "gee, you're a little close" uncomfortable. I was able to ignore it once the movie started.
After thoroughly enjoying the movie, we left in a hurry to avoid any further contact with J-- from the Psychology department. (A psychology major should know better, right?) And by then, it was late and I didn't feel like setting up the computer again, so I just played with the kitty and went to bed.
Today is homework day. I've got a ton of reading, and some grading left to do before they send me a nasty email telling me I'm behind. I check back to find papers every half hour, and so far, there just aren't any there to grade. They said not to worry the first week, so I guess it's okay.
In any case, the dishes are now about half done (I took a break and ate some taco/chili salad), the blog has been written, my twenty-eight emails so far today have been read and deleted (or kept, in the case of a few), and I am ready to finish dishes, do a load of laundry, and read, read, read.
Talk to you late.
End.

Maybe the guy is new to the school and went to the movie to mean some people, make a friend, etc. When you asked for directions you made the first contact, ane maybe he was too shy to seek out someone else. Just a thought. sr

To sr: The guy had been here two years, and seemed to know quite a few people - to judge by his calling out their names in a "hey, what's up" manner.
To Pandora: Yeah, more creepy. I suppose I've always drawn creepy, although there are several exceptions over at Con-U.
End.
