Introducing Shasta

Hey guys. That kitten I've been so excited about has arrived. He is the cutest thing I've ever seen, and he is already a little handful. My classmate and I went to Petsmart and got set up, and we looked at the cats they had there. There were a few that I'd have taken home, but they had eye infections at the time, and I'd rather start fresh. They were each about four months old, and would probably have been very nice cats, except that we decided to go to the mall as well, and then make the decision. What can I say? I saw Shasta, and that was it for the decision. His two little brothers were cute too, but then I was introduced to my kitty. The others never had a chance.

Shasta is black, and only about six weeks old. He has bright blue eyes, and a few silver hairs on his underbelly. Shasta is a loud kitten, and talks all the time, but he needs his sleep. He's already taken three naps today. Currently, he's wrestling a paper bag into submission, although it looks like the bag might yet win. Oh yes, and he's tiny!

So that's what I've been up to today. Shopping for stuff, getting a kitten, bringing him home and acclimating him to his new home... I also have an appointment with the vet tomorrow, which should be interesting.

That's about the state of affairs here. I'm about to get reading for my fall classes. We were given a book that all the incoming freshmen are reading. The point is to use the book in the assignments we give them, so I suppose I need to have it read. The book, by the way, is Dan Rather's _The American Dream._ I've read about fifteen pages, and it isn't bad. Not what I'd pick off the shelves for myself, but not bad, either.

Goodness. Shasta has decided to sleep in my backpack. I hope this doesn't become permanent, because I use that backpack.

Oh well. There's really not much more to say, other than that I love my kitten. So, I'll be seeing you around. End.
