Klutz x Two

Yeah. So I'm a total klutz, and if I hadn't known it before, this last weekend would have opened my eyes. I have spilled the same cup of water (some of the water from the first spill was still in the cup) twice. I have nearly knocked over the same pitcher of water (none of it spilled, thus the "almost") many more times. It is, as it has been, in the same place. I will not move it, because when I'm sitting here working, it's in the perfect place. It's just when I get up that there's a problem. I spilled red tea on my new carpet, but managed to get it all cleaned up with no staining. I spilled water in that exact spot not an hour later. It narrowly missed my computer. I have since propped the computer up on chair so that I can have my water and computer where I want them. Yikes.

Also, I have been asked by a fellow classmate to provide a list of good fantasy books. She's never read the genre before, and figures she has some time to explore it, so she has come to me, a fantasy reader and a fantasy writer, for suggestions. I've given her about fifteen authors, ranging from Prattchet to Rice, and nearly three pages of titles. I'm turning the rest of the assignment to you. I've not read all there is to read in the genre, certainly. I've left quite a few that I have read out. So tell me what books she ought to be reading, in your opinion, to get a good overview of all the different types of fantasy out there. Readers of fantasy will know that there are indeed several types of it. Here are her guidelines: She is interested only in "classics," "quality," and "adult" (meaning not kid stuff, you freaks. Minds out of the gutter!). I took this to mean she did not want the stuff marketed toward preteens through young adult, though she's missing a vast assortment of really good books this way. She'd like fantasy that can be analyzed, or that is a staple of the genre, in short. Give me your suggestions, if you're of a mind to. I'd love to hear them, and they might not be on the list I gave her. If they are on the list, I'll tell her that they therefore come highly recommended by others as well. Your assignment for the day. Thanks. By the way, a description of the book's qualities/nature/key selling points would be great, in case I haven't read it. But even a title/author is cool. Thanks, again.

So I made macaroni and cheese today for dinner. I guess my body still hasn't gotten over the ramen-for-every-meal thing, because the first thing my stomach suggested for dinner was noodles. I bribed it away from ramen, but that was as far as I got. I also ate one of those mini cans of peas, not because I like peas (I don't), but because it's been there a while, and I really miss vegetables (even peas, maybe). The phone didn't ring, and the noodles stayed where they were supposed to stay. I was happy.

What else? That actually might be it. I'm really tired, and might be taking a nap soon. Well, here you go. Your daily post. End.
