The occasional opining of a sleep-deprived grad student, with cheese.

Congratulations!

I've been without hot water all weekend, but there is no way to reach folks-who-fix-things on the weekends, so I've dealt. I had no hot water today either, left the apartment before the office opened, and called later in the day (but got no answer). When I returned home, there was a note (step up in my world) saying folks were in there "checking plumbing." I think all this boils down to a hot shower tomorrow (my first in four days), as opposed to the squeal-worthy quickies I've been taking.

Also, I've been accepted to Mr. Cricket's School of Wishful Thinking @ Bliss Upon-a-Star, NeverNever Land.

*wink*

End.

Oh, 'Mira -- congratulations! So... you're going to SWT? I guess we can talk about that... ;-) My hot water was acting funny this morning too. A cold shower at 6.50 a.m. when it's 22 degrees outside is not a joyful experience. It's 16hrs later and I'm still shivering.

So...how's that documentation going? Contacted anyone in the law dept for a letter? You might consider going to the office during business hours and
    1. asking them about an emergency # for the future (maybe their home number or better yet maybe you can shower at their house)
    2. asking them what they plan to do about this recurring problem
    3. asking them for lower rent since they are not fulfilling their part of the contract
    4. asking them for the phone number of the housing authority in dirt town or better yet give them the number - maybe they can get some help solving the problem
    5. asking them if they really think anyone will recommend their astablishment to anyone else
