And the verdict is...

I actually enjoyed the pie, as did my fellow consumers. My additions to the filling recipe were not disasters, and the crust did not turn into an oily, soggy mess. It was actually much firmer than the store-bought, and I liked it better. I might make it again sometime. It's very simple.

And I got stuck with the bird bones somehow, so I guess I have to make stock soup again. I've got plenty of veggies to add, though really, I'd like to just boil the bones into a turkey stock, without veggies. Then I can freeze the liquid, and make soup when I have run out of the other. That actually might come sooner than later, since I seem uncannily able to eat the chicken/pumpkin soup for days on end. Yikes. I still have potato and sausage soup to consume. I guess I'm a soup-making fiend.

The meal was quite tasty, and everyone brought what things they couldn't have Thanksgiving without. There was beer bread, vanilla fruit salad, fish cakes, the cherry pie, and homemade cranberry sauce. That's aside from the turkey, gravy, dressing (white bread stuffing, not cornbread), mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, and various snacks. Sadly, most of this has been consumed. We were pigs.

And that's about all the time I budgeted for blogging tonight. I'll have a picture of the pie later, if I remember. It's on the camera.

Thanks.
