What exactly does the following comment on a paper mean, exactly?

Comment:
I've read your papers before, [name], and you're a really great poet. But you're in the PhD program now, and you need to start thinking of your sentences as lines, and make your paragraphs into stanzas.

No, that's not a comment on my paper. For one, I'm a lowly MA, and for two, I'm a lousy poet. But I ask you, just what in the world does that comment mean?

Just that, this morning. I'm packed up to go home now, and E's still at it. I'm going to start flipping through more sources while I wait.
