We've Been Had!

So I’m writing about how our logocentric society sees writing as a threat to speech. And about half way down the fourth page, I suddenly decide that we aren’t really logocentric. That logocentrism is just a façade designed to keep the marginalized other out of power. And I go with the idea. But then about half way down the fifth page, I realize that we aren’t even graphocentric. That speech is just another form of writing, and the whole thing has been made up by the people in power. We’ve been had!

On the other sides of this rainy day (I thought we were in an arid desert people, meaning: no rain!), I didn't make it to Church. The story behind this is interesting. I'm sure. Last night, I posted my thing and read my paper to myself again. I finally decided to head for the bedroom at about two or so. Not bad, right? I set my alarm to go off at seven, and started staring at the ceiling fan. It puts me to sleep, really. All the turning...

But I now have more noisy neighbors. The feral teens were gone, which was good, but then the drunks came out. Not the potheads upstairs, or the opera freaks next door. But across the sidewalk and towards the parking lot, these people were out on the lawn drinking beer and calling for their dog. They were trying to catch it, and yelling encouragement (slurred, by the way) to the guy currently chasing it. He finally caught the dog, and held on to the collar while he dragged it back to the gate. The dog took a crap and they all laughed about that for a while. Then one of the guys started making out with the girl, who didn't seem very responsive, but wasn't telling him to get off, or anything. They were right in view of my window, and yes, I can be nosey. You would have watched them, too, don't deny it. So finally a younger girl comes out of the apartment and tells them she'll be late if she doesn't leave now, and then these two little kids start calling for their mommy, and the drunk woman who was being pawed goes inside. It was after three when they finally went inside.

Once it was quiet I fell asleep rather quickly, but when the alarm went off, I decided I didn't want any of that noise, and pushed snooze. Not a bad thing, really, I can usually push snooze a few times and not be late, since I arrive early on purpose all the time. But apparently I pushed snooze quite a few times, because by the time I realized I was pushing snooze and checked the time, church was in half an hour. I decided I couldn't shower, dress, eat and get there in that time, and sulked for a while, before getting up, showering, dressing, eating and working on this paper of mine. I hadn't intended to miss Church. It just happened. I can't wait until their stupid summer hours are over, and I can sleep a little before going to church. Oh well.

And that has been my Sunday so far. I'm going to eat lunch, call a classmate about the reference page (as in, if I only talked about my ideas and mentioned a few people, do I then still need to have a list of everyone who might possibly have had an influence on my paper?), and read for class. I might draw up an outline of my other paper, or start on one of my presentations. But I might not get that far. I'm going to bed tonight at around eleven, so that I can start my week with a little more energy.

Well, I'll be back some time. End.
