update - SWEET

okay my 2.6 readers out there, i need to share this spectacular news.

we all just got an email from the prof saying that since s/he goofed up on the numbers, we only need to have three of our four essays revised and ready for submission.

three of them.

not four of them.

i've been busting my ass on this "small town" essay, and i'm about three paragraphs from being happy enough with it, if not thrilled. i've already revised two other essays. the last essay was going to the be big rewrite, where i needed six pages of all new material at least, and the stuff i got to keep would need to be rewritten to match the new theme.

this means that i'm actually only a few paragraphs away from being done with my revisions, and the one i've been the most worried about can wait until later and become, possibly, the germ for my dissertation.

also, since this small town essay deals with food, i can submit it to the food-themed journal i was going to submit the other one to.

if you could see me now, you'd see me dancing around the apartment.

i now only have a tedious materials-gathering evening ahead of me instead of a hair-pulling, evening-and-morning-and-afternoon of revision and materials-gathering. this rocks like very little else has rocked in a long while, and i think that's mostly because i've been sleeping in shifts of roughly 6 hours on, 3 hours off since wednesday and am clearly impaired in the mental area.

[dances like a mad thing and inevitably steps too close to the side and falls into the fire along with the one ring, a la gollum]

to avert the above danger, i will now finish the essay on gingerbread men, small towns, and church.

love and peace.
