well finally
nevertheless, i finally dragged some out and put it to work. three hours later, i have a story.
i'm rather fond of it, and i'm torn between trying to cut it down to an impressive 500 words and trying to expand it into an impressive 10 pages. i have liked the short-short genre since first hearing of it. the tightness and brilliant interweaving of a well written short-short are amazing to me. at the same time, there don't seem to be many who appreciate that. for the most part, non-cw people around these parts treat short-shorts as lazy writing, like the writer just couldn't be bothered to keep on and stopped at the first available end point. sort of like a freshman paper.
i'm leaning toward the 500 words, myself. part of that is because i'm much fonder of the short short. part of that is that it's currently 776 words and lyric in nature. i'm eyeing a paragraph that doesn't necessarily have to be there, but i think i'll leave it in for the workshop to give people something to say.
i'm very proud to say that the story does not have a single section break. it's the first of that sort in almost 4 years.
and since that's the most productive thing i've done in nearly three weeks, i'm going to call it a night and hope my story doesn't suck in the morning.
l&p
(it ends happily. just like i needed. and with a tender kiss. and with an engagement ring. yet it's still dark enough to fit the rest of my writing. it'll probably go well with europa and vadleany. if it doesn't suck in the morning.)
