and another entry. because for some reason, i'm wildly drawn to the blog of late. here is the pinned out version of the swatch that took for-ev-er. i still like the pattern [though it can be a pain in the ass with yarn this weight], but i'm not happy with the airiness. or lack of it. those solid areas are too solid, and the open areas aren't open enough for my enjoyment. yeah, i know that if i bound it off, wet it down, and then pinned it out proper, it might look a little lacier. but not enough. behold:

here it is again, a little closer up. see what i mean? just not light and airy. not enough.

so i'm going to swatch it up on a pair US2s. i was using some 10 crochet cotton on US2s [a spiderweb shawl that, sadly, i just didn't like enough to continue], and i liked the effect there. the US4-5 gave me too airy an effect on the old shale tablecloth [where a braindead round threw everything so far off i've not had the courage to pick out the stitches and continue].

i want some kind of definition between the YOs, the K2togs and the knits. there should be three very distinct tones in this pattern, and yet i do want airy. so back to the swatching.

love and peace
